This was a synergy pilot project funded by TRIAS Tanzania from 2012 to 2013 to Improve food and income security through a better use of natural resources and drought cycle management in Longido district, Tanzaniain the villages of Meirugoi, GilaiLumbwa, Orkejuloongishu and Noondoto.
The activities implemented by LCDO were;
- Restocking of goats for 200 poorest households in the target area and installation of redistribution system of goats
- Initial stocking of 4 grain stores and installation of food bank system
- Improvement of pasture land though mobilizing the community to plant favorable seeds in pasture areas
- Finishing of dam in Meirugoi village
- Rehabilitation of pipeline in Meirugoi
- Establishment of water pans at strategic places
- Development of drought management cycle system and development of early warning system.
